The Next Four Years

I'd like to see a discussion on what we perceive the next four years might be like here in Hoover.  Given the current economic climate, do y'all believe we in Hoover will be affected?  Could any city services be at risk of losing funding?  Could layoffs be in our future?  Could school funding be at risk of being cut again?

The incumbents have had the opportunity to sit in the Council seats while the economy has been doing fairly well.  Whoever sits in those seats in the next four years might have some tough decisions to make.

Any thoughts?

My first thought is that capital expenditures may be affected first.  In a shaky economy I would expect us to avoid unncessary long term expenditures.  Politically, that could certainly be a hard decision since we  live in such a "I want it now" culture.  Sometimes we have to hang onto money to avoid real problems in the future.  Just look at Jefferson County where the commissioners never saw a dollar they didn't spend.
