Here is our chance-NEW CANDIDA.- city council

John Green III, retired Police Officer, on the Hoover Public Library Board, is running for Hoover City Council.

Opportunity for some "new blood".

Can't fuss about the Hoover Library. It has been a Huge success and growing daily with additional patrons and now adding a cafe plaza.

Other than his service on the library board, what can you tell us about him?  Is he willing to respond to questions from us on this forum?  What part of Hoover does he live in?

Very good questions.  If he wants his own section on THE Hoover Forum like the other candidates, he needs to send an e-mail to moderator@hooverforum.com and we'll set him up.

If he lives in Hoover, why should it make a difference where he lives in Hoover?

John Green is one of Hoover's finest citizens and ran for CC in the prior election. He was interviewed by the committee organized by Paul Elkourie that made voter recommendations. The committee interviewed all candidates using the same questions, posted their full responses on a site, and did a mail-out with these recommendations. He is known for his integrity and is honest and straightforward with everyone. John's wife, Melody, was the IB coordinator/teacher at HHS. He has attended CC meetings and is current in knowledge of Hoover. The city would be fortunate to have John as part of the leadership.

My only interest in his location is that - in the end - I would hope there could be a good balance of community representation on the Council.

Monte, you seem to be one that is "savvy" in grassroots of Hoover Poltics, so could you educate me in the Hoover City Council Repre. I know that it is not by districts, and each CCmember is at large, so does a "upstart" ( like Greene) run in a slot or again Hoover at large.

What made this question more intriguing was the comment of " where does he live". If it was by district that would be a qualification but since it is at large how are the codes written for incoming candidates?

John lived somewhere near Gawain Drive, however I do not know where he currently lives. He will select the CC position he wishes to fill.

Monte, don't take me as I student in Bio. Class asking where children come from, but when you say the new candidate will select the position he desires what position does the Councilman B. Skeleton hold.

Do the Council Person have certain responsibites that go with their POSITION?

When the candidate selects the position does those Respons. go with the "Slot"?

Thx.

I do not know what CC place # BS holds.  Responsibilities are the same for all CC members; they do not represent any specific area of the Hoover community.

Here's the list of council members and the places they represent:

http://www.hooveral.org/Default.asp?ID=88&pg=City+Council

Mr. Green can select any place he wants, but he must choose one (hence "At Large").  Since he's on the Library Committee, as is Mr. Natter, it would be interesting to see if he vies for that spot.
