new principal at HHS already trying to shift blame
08/07/07 at 8:37am

In a recent Birmingham News Article, the new principal at Hoover High School tried to blame the scrutiny HHS is under on the news media.

From the article:

Ken Jarnagin, the new interim principal at Hoover High who started as the system's chief academic officer in July, told the audience that Hoover schools are going "straight up," based on what he's seen from teachers, staff members, school leaders and parents.

"I have read the paper since Andy Craig hired me, and if we let the newspapers and the media control our destiny, rather than our character controlling our destiny, we are going down the wrong road," he said.

Newsflash for Jarnagin, the scrutiny  HHS is under is not due TO the media. It is caused by the actions of employees of HHS and the BOE.

That scrutiny you so abhor is just a drop in the bucket, compared of what it could be and should be.

The Birmingham News sat on this story as long as Hunter George and Victor Hanson could humanely do so. They covered for HHS and you should drop down on your knobby knees and be thankful for that.

And we all know that the Hoover Gazette fired Hunter Ford rather than report ANY aspect of this story.

It is concerned parents and property owners that are driving this story. If it wasn't for us, it would of died out a long while back.

So don't blame the media and the newspapers. They have only done a half-baked job anyway.

Blame the people you work for, the citizens of Hoover, AL.

They ones who will not accept full out gross moral turpitude in school system employees.

They are the ones who refuse to look the other way and wink and nod when hundreds and thousands of dollars are donated to the HHS Booster club and spent indiscriminately by a coach for his personal whims.

The citizens of Hoover are to blame for your problems Jarnagin. And rather than deflect, you had better get a move on and start trying to fix what is broken or you will find yourself in the unemployment line with Richard Bishop.

Rush can't save you. Andy Craig can't save you.

So stop sucking up and blaming the problems Craig and Bishop  have caused on the news media.

Well said, Carmen!

I have hope for Dr. Jarnagin, though.  He's the only one who's had the courage to step up to the plate and address this head on.  He's saying all the right things (other than blaming the news media----how pathetic to blame the messenger) about the students and the seniors and getting back on track.

I just wonder who in the world they can find to be principal of HHS permanently.  And how long will it take to work all of this out and fire RP and pull the teachers back together united under one principal.
