Private Meeting?
07/29/07 at 9:14am

On al.com today:
School Board President Donna Frazier said Saturday she will speak with board members early this week to determine whether there needs to be an investigation into claims that the superintendent ordered Bishop not to look into Propst's private life.

I wonder if she is going to call a meeting or if this will be another "private" board meeting.

In accordance with the BoE's standard unlawful protocol, they will email each other and probably do a telephone conference call.  Frazier and the other board members have believed and acted for the past 18 months as if they are exempt from the Open Meetings and Sunshine Law.  They are so arrogant about their disregard for the law that they practically "shove it in our faces".

In actuality, however, the BoE probably already has a "Plan B" ready.   Frazier is lying when she says that the letter from Bishop's attorneys contains information which "90 percent of it we're hearing for the first time."  If that were true, the BoE would have delayed voting on Craig's recommendation to terminate Bishop because of the risk that the recommendation was based upon "personal and/or political" reasons, an exception under Bishop's contract for non-renewal. Everytime Frazier speaks she gives Bishop's attorneys evidence to support their potential lawsuit against the BoE.  Guess who will have to pay for Frazier's defense and the defense of the rest of the BoE?  That's right.  We will.

Interesting that these BoE members refer to percentages between the facts and "rumors".  Did Frazier get her college degree in math?  Does she have any degree beyond high school?

I have tried to find the educational background of all the Hoover Boe.  That information is not listed on the BOE webpage.  Anyone know where to find it?

Did anybody catch the e-mail comment Frazier made in the paper this morning?  That she would e-mail the other Board members to determine blah blah blah.  Clear violation of the open meetings law.  Conducting school business out of the view of the public is CLEARLY a violation.  Can someone show her the rules, please?

Here is an excerpt from an email to Simmons employees from someone who went to the Board meeting:

About public records:  Some of you have asked me what can or cannot be made public.  I went to two people who I thought would know: Carol Barber and Leigh Phillips.  Our personnel file at CO is partly public record.  Someone asking to see it would have to state what they wanted and a reason; and there are some things that are not available.  Parts that can be shared: the final yearly evaluation we do with the principal (not the one that is written after a classroom visit); complaints made against you or discipline actions taken; correspondence between you and the principal.  Anything sent via e-mail (whether or not in your file)is public and can be pulled up and read.  Carol had a stack of what looked like email messages that had been requested by the media.  She had to make sure no student names appeared. Any information that would lead to identity theft is not public.

Wouldn't this apply to the school board too? Can we request these emails?

Yes.  Every single e-mail that any and every board member has received from any person regarding Hoover Schools is subject to the Public Records Law.  Problem is, Bolt and Veitch will never comply.  They've already wiped their disks clean, I'm sure.

And finally, someone has to ask for them.  Looks like the media already has?

Guess what else is public?  All cell phone records complete with phone numbers for all school-issued cell phones.  This includes the athletic department at Hoover High School.  Wonder if Stefnie's phone numbers will show up on RP's cell phone?  How many times?

They can wipe their disks as clean as they want to, but the data is still there.  And if they won't comply, well, that's what court-orders are for...

Knowing what I know about Ms. Barber and how she lies and tries to cover things up....these were NOT all the emails.
