The woman police say is the victim of a murder-suicide in Hoover Sunday morning was identified this afternoon by the Jefferson County coroner's office as 35-year-old Mary Jane O'Bryant.
 
Hoover police Assistant Chief A.C. Roper said O'Bryant was shot and killed about 3:45 a.m. Sunday by a 63-year-old man in his home in the 800 block of Al­ford Avenue.
 
The man, whose name was being withheld pending notice of next of kin, then turned the gun on himself, Roper said.
 
Police say the two had lived together in the house a few months before O'Bryant moved out in June. At the time, the woman asked police to "stand by" while she moved her belongings out, but she filed no complaint against the man, Roper said.
 
O'Bryant is from the Birmingham-Hoover metro area, and the man was from Florida, Roper said.
 
The incident is the second murder-suicide in Hoover this month.
