Average survey participation is less than 200. While you may find it meaningless, I am extremely pleased that that many of our community members will take the time (average 2 to 5 minutes) to stop and give their input. If you actually look at the results, especially to the open-ended questions, you'll see how sincere our survey respondents are and how concerned they are about the direction of this school system and the challenges we all face. Until the HSCIN surveys were made available, most all of our respondents had no formal way to give input to our appointed School Board members and the officials of the school system. While it is hard to tell if anyone in the system actually acts on the responses, it is only a matter of time before those responding grow weary of having their voices ignored. What happens then is anyone's guess. The HSCIN's mission is to engage our Hoover community in the discussion about excellence in our public schools. We are meeting that mission through the use of our surveys. We fully recognize that participation is voluntary. I will say, as Board Chairperson, that I truly appreciate all of you who take the time to make your voice heard. Your voice is important to us. Research shows that to properly extrapolate survey results, multiply those results by 10. Considering there are 12000 students in the Hoover system, 2000 responses is a pretty good response rate. You can't rain on my parade, Ninnyhammer. Nice try, though.
