Thanks, HH, for the lecture.  I'm sure that you are just as good lecturing your children on this subject.  Based on your comments, though, it appears that you do not have too much experience dealing with real children.  Your comments are very standard for someone who does not have children, but knows all there is to know about them based on what they have read in books.

As with your out-of-context scripture quotes, you have also managed to take my post out of context regarding the comment about getting your head out of the Bible.  Nobody, especially me, is going to critizise a single word in the Bible.  I will, however, not stand for anyone to cherry pick verses and use them, out of context, to suit their needs.  That is a game that is played too often and is just plain wrong.

The "mega-churches" have handled it as the Bible states. The "let he who is without sin, cast the first stone" incident is one of the most well-known lessons of the Bible. ... I suggest you all take notice of this, move on with your lives and stay out of the lives of others that do not concern you,

1 Timothy 5:20  Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.

Good grief...

This thread, like many others out here, reads like a fifth grade lunchroom conversation.  Amazing.

I think these mega-churches come out big against sin in the abstract, but tend to shy away from concrete examples, especially when heat from the pulpit might tend to wilt the greenery in the collection plate. Some of these well-suited Sunday saints would be rather surprised to be the subject of a good ole 1950's style rural Baptist fire and brimstone condemnation. Preacher had one suit, with shiny elbows, and a look in his eye that told you he KNEW what you had done in that back seat on Saturday night. Still makes me break a sweat to think about it.  Wink
