Title: Interviews
Post by hoover123 on 08/06/07 at 12:45pm

Someone posted on the al forum
"This will be an interesting next 2 weeks in the news... stay tuned. The people doing the interviews are about to speak. Someone just rec'd a phone call tonight! "

Has anyone else heard anything about this and would care to elaborate?

Nobody that knows what's coming down the road is able to elaborate at this time.  Any leaks that you hear will be pure speculation as the penalties, if caught, are severe and too risky.  Due to the limited number of people in the know, it will be very clear as to who said what.  Seriously, just be patient.  This occurring the week school starts is asinine.

Par for the course, I suppose.

A "special" called board meeting has been scheduled for 5:15 PM on Thursday, August 9, 15 minutes before the work session to start at 5:30 PM.  There needs to be a good showing by the public.  It is always at meetings like this where they try to pull off the big stunts.  Or maybe the board members are going to resign their positions in unison.  Trying to be optimistic...

It's probably to name the principal at Crossroads.  Should have done that this morning at Institute.  Did anyone hear if the BOE and CC were introduced this year?  Or were they scared of the deafening roar of silence?

Whoa there, Hooch.  What penalties?  This is not a grand jury, it's just some people talking to lawyers.  Many of the people who have been interviewed have already told people what they were asked and what they said.   The number of people "in the know" is not all that limited.

Attorney/client privilege exists between the attorneys and their client the school board.  There is absolutely nothing to prevent those interviewed from telling anyone they want to tell exactly what they said in the interviews.

As a legal matter, that is.  Now, some of those interviewed might fear losing their jobs if they talk about something that looks bad for the school board.  For that reason, they might choose to keep silent.  But several important interviewees have already been fired or left the Hoover system, and they have nothing to fear anymore.

I thought with school starting on the 9th that the BOE might not expect a big crowd to show up.  It would be a good time to do something like pull off a big stunt.

Of course, it could be just to name the new principal for Crossroads.

Cool, then I guess everyone already knows all about it.

Let's just say that the ducks are being lined up so that the announcement can be made completely, and not just chopped up into finished and unfinished business.  If the ducks are not all in a row, that nothing will be said at that time.

BTW, has anyone seen Erin Stock since she wrote the story about the letter?  Word on the street is that if she is seen on campus, orders are shoot to kill, or has the Hoover mafia already gotten to her?

For those who weren't at the last "work session", the BOE pulled a fast one and had former Judge Pointer give a progress report on the "investigation".  It was not on any agenda published to the public nor was the media informed that Pointer would be there. That presention should have been done at the regular board meeting, not during the work session.  BOE was hoping for few to show at the work session to hear what Pointer had to say.  Instead, the room was full.

Remember, this BOE refuses to follow proper procedures for anything.  So, we must be prepared for anything and everything.  Besides, when there is a crowd in the audience, Frazier has great difficulty speaking in complete sentences due to nerves taking over (and not knowing correct parliamentary procedures); Baker makes incriminating remarks to make sure that all eyes are on her; and BV never disappoints in embarrassing the law profession as a whole with numerous irrelevant dumba$$ jokes. AWB always ends the show by trying to intimidate the attendees into remembering that he is the true "kingpin" of the BOE and holds the puppet strings  manipulating Craig, the superintendent.

That's what just happened to the BOE.  Nice post.

You are correct, you should ask him/her the minister's speech.

Do tell more, for those of us w/o contacts in attendance.

Hate to sound a bit thick, but I have no idea what that means.

As JBH asked, mind telling us more?

I was not there, but I was told that the verse from Proverbs is what the minister based his message on.  It was about having the character and moral courage to be leaders of young people.

Someone who was there correct me if I heard wrong.

A friend called me and told me the same, she said that "it seemed to be directed at the board". Said the entire sermon was about building character and being leaders of young men. And that leaders needed to have a good character. My friend also told me that Donna Frazier was out the door in a hurry, looking pretty POd at the end of the ceremony. Oh and BV was not present.

other ways of saying that....a man's word is his bond......honesty is the best policy......you shall be known by your words and deeds.

integrity, doing the right thing, telling the truth.

of course polticians, board members and others laugh at these concepts and would call me a fool.

but i can look people in the eye when speaking to them.

and am eager to look my Creator in the eye and account for my deeds here on earth.

I feel MUCH better, now that the clergy's involved.  (Bite your tongue, Lament, and let me finish)  If a man of the cloth has summoned the will to chastise, then we really are getting somewhere. The preachers always know the mind of the people before the politicians.  If the good reverend (or whatever) is darning the sinners, then the congregation must be in favor.  And the sinners will either soon repent, or be banished (or bitten by a snake)...

BTW:  Shylos, I'm not directing this at you.  I agree with everything you said.  I tend to be a bit cynical, just for the hell of it.

Oh, and I'm serious.  The preachers always lead the way and lead the people.  That's why Marx hated them...

I did not know that Groucho hated the clergy.  You learn something new everyday.

At least Rev. Gray had the courage to address the issue in no uncertain terms.  (Do what is right rather than what is easy ... Think about how Hoover is known, and what we're known for)  Our other "leaders" (except for Dr. Jarnagin, who commended Rev. Gray's message in our faculty meeting today) only mouthed meaningless platitudes about how great the Hoover system is and never even acknowledged the firestorm swirling around us.

Dr. Jarnagin had sent all Hoover High employees a letter last week indicating that we would be sitting together at Institute to show our solidarity.  Typically, however, the section reserved was not big enough to accommodate all of us, so many of us had to scatter.  There must be a metaphor in there somewhere (A house divided ...)

The city council, mayor, and board members were in attendance and were briefly acknowledged, with no time allowed for reaction.  And someone please help Andy with his public speaking skills.  He needs to keep his hands out of his pockets and know what he wants to say well enough that he doesn't have to read it from his notes.  He made himself appear incredibly nervous and uncomfortable rather than confident and in control.

;D Hey, I'm cool with anyone on our side.

EDIT:  I got a snake if you'd like to borrow it. :P
