Title: Simmons or Bumpus????? Post by timmy2tone on 08/03/07 at 8:07pm Thinking of moving to the area and I have a child entering 5th grade. I was wondering which Hoover middle school is considered better in football between simmons and Bumpus? I'm not interested in Berry. Thanks! |

Title: Re: Simmons or Bumpus????? Post by ILuvHoova on 08/04/07 at 8:42am Simmons and Bumpus played for their division Metro championship in 2005 and 2006. Simmons won both times, but both teams are terrifically strong. If you're really only interested in football at each place, you'd be great with either one. Academics are different. Bumpus has a stronger academic focus. Simmons isn't far behind, but Bumpus does outweigh Simmons in that category. Bumpus offers advanced classes while Simmons does not. Never did understand that. |

Title: Re: Simmons or Bumpus????? Post by ILuvHoova on 08/04/07 at 9:18am Simmons offers Advanced Math and Math Team. Bumpus offers that AND Advanced Reading. Bumpus' academic clubs are also have better participation. |
Title: Both schools... Post by Altec on 08/04/07 at 10:40am ...are excellent. But I do believe that Bumpus has more advanced programs, wider variety of activities, etc. You can't go wrong with either one (or Berry Middle). |

I personally know the Math Team teacher at Simmons. I regard her as one of the most fantastic teachers I have ever met. Advanced reading...eh...aren't we already suppoused to know how to read in middle school? Honestly, 'reading' is a waste of a class. In my opinion it could be taken out and something more productive could be put in...but that's just me. |
