Post by billybob555 on 08/01/07 at 9:27am

Can we afford this BOE?

Connie Williams    $500,000.00
Investigation        $100,000.00   (estimate)
Richard Bishop     $800,000.00   (estimate if he wins)

Total:  $1,400,000.00

I'm thinking YES, but we'd have to do a couple of things.  I heard an interview on Fox6 the other day that Hoover could sell out Giants Stadium if they played there.  I forget who said it, but he seemed to be someone important.  Anyway, Giants Stadium seats about 70,000.  At $20 per ticket, that's $1.4 million right there.  Of course you'd want to get parking also, so you charge $5 per car.  At 4 people per car, that's 17,500 cars, which at $5 per car would be $87,500.  That would pay for the investigation as it stands through August.  Add the concession profit and you'd actually have a surplus.  I don't know who would get the TV profits, but it doesn't matter.

See - problem solved.

The investigation is estimated to cost around $80,000 but if it does run higher, so be the case.  However, we won't pay Bishop one red cent.

How do you know the BOE won't lose?  They could even settle with Bishop and lawyer fees are not cheap.

Pointer said that the total would "slightly exceed" $80,000.00, so I just rounded it off.

We'll pay...just wait and see. Just like the money poured down the drain with all the other lawsuits that had to be settled. They make really poor decisions.

Not even including all the other lawsuits...NO, we CAN'T afford this BOE.

"We" won't pay...are you speaking for the Board, BucsJags.  Even if you are, we will indeed pay Bishop, on way or another.  The only question I have is, why wasn't he bought out like all the others?

Because those idiots on the BoE didn't take a proper vote on Monday night.  The lawyers (Bolt and Veitch) and the politicos (Veitch and Defnall) wanted to make it look like they were being fair to Bishop so they "recessed" the meeting to allow Bishop an opportunity to appeal.  THEY are the ones that opened us up to this lawsuit.  THEY are the ones who should foot the bill.

They made a HUGE big deal about how it was necessary to NOT give any reasons why they fired Connie Williams because it would open the BoE up to litigation, but they conveniently FORGOT their reasoning when it came to their buddy Bishop.

Or did they remember it and choose to do it anyway to allow Bishop's lawyers to file a suit so that Bishop could get a settlement?

We'll never know.

Defnall was not there for the most recent important vote of the BOE, but then he never makes it to the big important votes and is always "out of town."
