Title: New Survey
Post by HSCIN on 07/20/07 at 9:57am

Please take a few minutes to give us your thoughts on the Hoover High School Investigation. Go to www.hscin.org to take the survey.

You can preview the entire survey before taking it by clicking on the link provided.

Remember, survey participation is anonymous.

HSCIN while I do appreciate your polls and questionnaires, I do recall your organization advertising on al.com about one that asked about the overall district. The reason why I mention it, for some reason it is hard to find the results.

We post surveys for two weeks at a time, take a week off, then post a new survey.

The survey you mentioned was closed a few weeks back.  You can look at the results at:  http://www.hscin.org/Survey%20Results/Job%20Performance%20Survey%20Results.pdf

Results of all of our surveys are posted at:  http://www.hscin.org/Surveypage.htm.  Scroll toward the bottom.

As like Polls conducted out here, numbers/results on the above website are pretty much meaningless.  I mean, what's the avg survey participation?...  less than 200?   ::)

Average survey participation is less than 200.  While you may find it meaningless, I am extremely pleased that that many of our community members will take the time (average 2 to 5 minutes) to stop and give their input.  If you actually look at the results, especially to the open-ended questions, you'll see how sincere our survey respondents are and how concerned they are about the direction of this school system and the challenges we all face.

Until the HSCIN surveys were made available, most all of our respondents had no formal way to give input to our appointed School Board members and the officials of the school system.

While it is hard to tell if anyone in the system actually acts on the responses, it is only a matter of time before those responding grow weary of having their voices ignored.  What happens then is anyone's guess.

The HSCIN's mission is to engage our Hoover community in the discussion about excellence in our public schools.  We are meeting that mission through the use of our surveys.

We fully recognize that participation is voluntary.  I will say, as Board Chairperson, that I truly appreciate all of you who take the time to make your voice heard.  Your voice is important to us.

Research shows that to properly extrapolate survey results, multiply those results by 10.  Considering there are 12000 students in the Hoover system, 2000 responses is a pretty good response rate.

You can't rain on my parade, Ninnyhammer.  Nice try, though.

That's a nice little diatribe, HSCIN...

However, my point is, the fact remains that no where close to a "majority" involved within the Hoover City School System are voicing their opinion in your Polls or on this website.  It's simply a circle of cronies that like to whine, and eat cheese, that get worked up at certain little powwows and decide to "get involved".  Then the next day they go on about doing whatever it is they do... pretty much squat, and a whole lot of "much of nothing".

Enjoy.

I recall you whinning an awful lot Ninnyhammer...at least those who are taking the surveys are doing something productive.  Not everyone can physically act out.

LMAO.  You don't recall anything, kid. Trust me on this one.  And btw, I'm not the one whining about "Hoover happenings"... I simply enjoy the show and entertainment clowns like you put on out here for the rest of us to take in on a daily basis.

Now, speaking of "recalling" something... I recall you making an asinine comment about how you "can't believe" that you made a typo in a post... all while making even more typos in your future posts.  Oh well, I'd better not whine about that.   ;D

No election in the history of our country that I am aware of has ever had 100% participation.  An average for a non-presidential election is about 35%.  Local elections are generally the same.  As with much in this life, apathy rules.  At least SOME people are making an effort to let their voices be heard - and at about the same percentage as thoose who really care.

Kudos to HSCIN for giving the community an opportunity to express itself.

Well, our little forum clown... 100-200 poll participants is far, far from being remotely close to 35%.  DANG!
