Title: Who does Donna Frazier not trust? Post by billybob555 on 07/12/07 at 7:42am How many people are still at the BOE office that Frazier thinks are Williams supporters? I can help her understand that her loyalties should be with the students and the community if she is so confused. |
Title: Re: Who does Donna Frazier not trust? Post by hoover1990 on 07/12/07 at 10:47am I am appalled by Donna Frazier's comments in the BN today. What in the world could she be thinking? There are many people in the school system, and many in the community, who have worked hard to heal and move on after the firing of Connie Williams. Her words were a slap in their faces. She neatly divided the world into "Connie Williams supporters" vs. "Andy Craig supporters". How incredibly shallow and insulting! There is also an element of threat there. We saw what happened to Jan Dennis for remaining friends with Connie Williams -- she was marginalized for a year, then fired. Was this a message to the central office employees that the same fate awaits them if the aren't sufficiently trustworthy? What will satisfy Donna? A loyalty oath? Thanks a lot, city council. Can't wait for the election. |
Title: Re: Who does Donna Frazier not trust? Post by Altec on 07/12/07 at 10:53am This is a person that is not even qualified to serve on the School Board and she is the curret President (and I won't even go into the currect VP!). Her comments and beliefs just show how unprofessional and educated she is. This is a very sad time for the Hoover City Schools. :'( |
Title: Re: Who does Donna Frazier not trust? Post by billybob555 on 07/12/07 at 10:57am Your post was better than mine. I agree with you 100%. She makes it sound as if you can't like Connie Williams and do your job. Doing your job correctly is more important that have friends at work, but why can't you have both? Donna Frazier seems to be saying you are either a Connie Williams employee or an Andy Craig employee, when actually you are a Hoover employee. |
Title: Re: Who does Donna Frazier not trust? Post by ShadzMtnMom on 07/12/07 at 3:31pm I'll be honest, when I read that article today, my mouth was just hanging open. Unbelievable. Has Pat Morrow retired yet? We need someone in PR right NOW! Remember when Scott Stantis did the precious cartoon of Bill Veitch with the corks in his ears? You know he could have a field day doing a cartoon of Donna Frazier with black helicopters buzzing her and spooky eyes looking at her. Someone step up and take care of this disaster! "Tis better to remain silent and appear foolish, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt!" |
Title: Re: Who does Donna Frazier not trust? Post by ILuvHoova on 07/12/07 at 3:43pm Right on, Mom. We have suffered without the proper PR for way too long. Someone better get hold of the Central Office and the Board and start issuing some instructions on proper interviewing. Unbelievable. And yes, Pat Morrow has retired. Thankfully. |
Title: Re: Who does Donna Frazier not trust? Post by SPHSgrad06 on 07/12/07 at 5:57pm It makes me shudder to think that someone as under qualified as Donna Frazier actually has the position of BOE president. A better candidate would have been...wait...there are no better candidates. They are all abysmally under qualified. Having been to several BOE meetings, it is absolutely apparent that no one on that governing body is competent enough to be where they are. The fact that Frazier doesn't trust anyone at the school board is strikingly ironic considering that the BOE has routinely fired anyone they cannot control. But who could possibly fill the role of president? Bill Veitch is the poster-child for Good-Ole-Boy politics. Suzy Baker is clueless and wouldn't pass the dress code in hoover schools (except at SPHS under the watchful eye of Billy Broadway). Tom Defnall is useless. You can't trust A.W. Bolt as far as you can throw him. And Donna Frazier...well...I think it's fairly obvious that she isnt exactly doing a great job as it stands now. The city council elections are going to be dirty...but as it is, they are the only hope for Hoover schools. Can't wait till 2008. I can tell you that I will drive back from school and skip classes so that my vote can be counted. |

Title: Re: Who does Donna Frazier not trust? Post by radar49 on 07/12/07 at 6:40pm A smart PR person may be needed, but that would take a recommendation from Craig, the puppet, who would then need to be interviewed separately by each board member to make sure the person's IQ is lower than anyone on the BOE or CC (a hard person to find no doubt), a "strip tease" preview by Broadway if the person is a woman, and a demonstrated inability to speak complete sentences (cannot risk coherent statements from your PR person)..... Let's save that money until we have a new BOE and CC. |
Title: Re: Who does Donna Frazier not trust? Post by Walktall on 07/12/07 at 9:16pm You dont have to wait till 2008, Just Call the State! |
Title: Re: Who does Donna Frazier not trust? Post by radar49 on 07/12/07 at 9:27pm The state superintendent and state BOE know all about it. They cannot do anything about how the local BOE spends local funds (our local tax money and the money just received from Jefferson County). Nothing. They only audit how state funds allocated to Hoover are spent. Think about that. |
Title: Re: Who does Donna Frazier not trust? Post by SPHSgrad06 on 07/13/07 at 6:43am Hoover parents have to speak out against the school board. I know that this is very dangerous which is why I didn't start speaking out until after I graduated. One of my best friend's when I went to Spain Park felt this backlash. After we graduated, his brother had to change school systems because his mother spoke out against the school board, and his principal made life a living hell for him. But again, I will say it: What will be the fate of Hoover if the good people do nothing? This mother still hasn't stopped fighting, and I know for a fact that her older son is extremely proud of her...that's why he and I went to as many school board meetings last summer as possible. We wanted to show support for the right people. |
Title: Re: Who does Donna Frazier not trust? Post by superdolfan on 07/24/07 at 11:31am After watching the members last night, I thought this was a good time to bring this topic back up. They say that first impressions last the longest. My first impressions of our esteemed Board of Education: President Donna Frazier: She looked like a fish out of water with a packed room. After fumbling through the agenda and being corrected every thirty seconds by Mr. Sweeney, she apologized for the board not looking like they knew what they were doing. The apology didn't help. Neither did the apparent apprehension to discuss in public what is the people's business. If anyone can't be trusted now, it is this person. Suzy Baker: Contrary to her reputation that she has on this and other forums, I thought she was dressed OK. Not conservative, but not provocative either. She attempted to look intelligent during the Public Participation portion, sections D-J by asking irrelevant questions. And the representative for the school system was very polite in his answers, though he should have told her to not ask the questions she asked. Tom Defnall: No problems with this person. He seemed to be the only one who knew what was going on, asked good questions and kept most people on the board under control. A.W. Bolt: Frankly, didn't have an issue with this person, either. I personally liked his question regarding staff salaries, making sure that Hoover was paying more than competing systems. Bill Veitch: Since this gentleman is an attorney, a DA no less, I am frankly surprised at his lack of knowledge of rules of order. If what is said on this board is true, about siding with the boosters, we have a problem due to his position outside of the board. This could border on a conflict of interest. What would prevent him from using his position to dig up information on those who oppose him? Conversely, what would prevent him from using his position to shield those that support him? I hope that he is an ethical person who puts the responsibilities given to him by the CC seriously and to heart. Overall, I was disappointed in what I saw. As stated in another post, it goes to show it's not what you know, but who you know that gets you far in life. |
